Our race engine at the time was producing power levels that matched most current mild road builds, and almost two decades later our race engines have tripled that number. After a long and successful run, we returned to the drawing board with ATI to exclusively develop the updated Version 2 2JZ crank damper. This updated version was designed with a higher inertia rate to compensate for today's higher revving, more powerful 2JZs as an all round upgrade to the current damper. This new and improved unit works the same on an OEM 2JZ replacing the factory demountable factory unit. Aesthetically, the damper now features a durable hard-anodized black finish with laser-engraved 360-degree timing marks and logos that make reading much easier. We developed these main caps out of necessity for our 2JZ racing program and soon found them to be applicable in most street engines. With the increased levels of boost on single and larger twin turbo setups, the factory crank presses on the caps, often resulting in stress cracks and tears. The factory main caps were not designed for the forces required when doubling and tripling the factory horsepower and torque. Included in our short block and race engine packages, these caps are now available separately for those building their own engines. The stock pulley cannot handle high power and is prone to loosening at the rubber, which can cause major damage to surrounding accessories and the vehicle's body if it fails.
