The Z4 B48 Eventuri intake system was developed to give the turbo a less restrictive flow path while maintaining low intake temperatures. Heat and volume are the most important factors when designing an intake system for turbocharged engines. On the Z4, the intake system is located right next to the exhaust manifold, causing the engine compartment to heat up quickly. High temperatures are detrimental to engine performance because the turbo must use heated, less dense air to build boost pressure. The only way to keep IAT values as low as possible is with a fully sealed inlet. However, this leads to a limitation as there is only a single air intake from which air can be drawn. During development we noticed an additional opening in the wheel arch area and took advantage of this by adding a second feeder to our airbox. Additionally, our sealed airbox features a heat shield with gold reflectors to minimize radiant heat from the exhaust manifold. In order to maximize the volume, we made the airbox as large as possible and provided it with a cut-out for possible struts. The stock convoluted intake manifold has been replaced with a smooth carbon fiber manifold that also features increased internal volume, starting with a 111mm (4.4?) internal diameter that gently tapers to match the turbo inlet. The pipe provides a smooth path from the filter to the turbo inlet. Finally, we use a custom high-flow dry filter that is ISO tested for filtration performance and has a larger filtration area than the stock filter.
The Eventuri Z4 B48 intake system is a series of components designed for a specific purpose and manufactured to the highest standards.
