We present an intake tract that really sets new standards for the BMW G8X M3/M4 platform. We have put extensive research and development into developing an intake that not only outperforms the stock M3/M4, but is also future proof as it is capable of power increases well in excess of 1000hp. Our system is a complete redesign from the airboxes to the turbo inlets, aiming to reduce pressure drop while increasing flow rate and keeping inlet temperatures down. We have maximized the use of the available space and used 2 custom-made filters with a 40% larger filter area than the stock ones. These are used in our patented Venturi housings to direct air evenly to the turbo inlets. The inlets themselves are up to 160% larger in cross-section than stock and feature a sophisticated, dimpled inner surface to reduce frictional losses between the flow and the wall confinement. By creating a "cushion of air" on the wall surface, airflow can move through the intakes at higher flow rates and less pressure drop. This allows the turbos to draw in air with less resistance, thus reducing the wastegate duty cycle, resulting in higher overall performance .

dyno test

This intake tract was independently bench tested by BR Performance in Belgium. Testing was done back-to-back with the stock airbox and multiple runs were made with each configuration. The vehicle tested was driven without an activated carbon filter. We compared the best results with the stock airbox and the best results with the Eventuri system. The results on the dyno show a constant increase across the entire rev range, which is due to the turbos reaching maximum boost pressure earlier and having a lower wastegate duty cycle due to the higher efficiency of the intake system. This increase can be seen despite the increase in test bench temperatures from 11.8 degrees Celsius in the tests with the series system to almost 16 degrees Celsius in the Eventuri tests. On the road, the power gain translates into improved response at part and full throttle, with the car pulling to the red line much more eagerly.

Intake Air Temperature Tests

Turbocharged vehicles can generate excessive heat in the engine compartment, which can adversely affect performance if the intake system is not sealed against this heat. Even with charge air coolers and charge air coolers, it is important to minimize intake air temperatures because these cooling devices operate at a certain efficiency, so the outlet air temperature is affected by the inlet air temperature. A narrowing of the intake tract by open cones, even if they are heat protected, inevitably draws in hot air from the engine compartment. Our system, which is completely sealed, solves this problem while still not restricting the flow path by using larger volumes. To demonstrate this, we recorded air temperatures using thermocouples just ahead of each turbo. The comparisons were made on the same day and under the same environmental conditions between the original and Eventuri. Our M3 was allowed to warm up and then accelerated from 30mph to 90mph in 6th gear to measure the change in temperature with each run. Accelerates gear to measure temperature change with each ride. At 90 mph the accelerator was released and the brakes applied to 30 mph, after which the car accelerated again to 90 mph. A total of 3 sweeps were performed with both intake configurations.
